Meet Douglas ONE PART PHOTOGRAPHER. ONE PART BIOGRAPHER. ONE PART CHAI FRAPPE.
I believe in finding the beautiful settings for you to be yourselves in. In subverting the expected to capture the natural responses that inevitably follow. In creating the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in images that will evoke strong emotions for years to come.
I began capturing images with my own camera at the age of 9. There were only 12 exposures on the roll. Each click had to count. It was a trip through Morocco in my twenties that showed me I had to do more with photography. Within two years I was shooting my first destination wedding in Oaxaca.
FIFTEEN YEARS LATER, I AM MORE INSPIRED THAN EVER TO CREATE BEAUTIFUL, EMOTIONAL IMAGES THAT GIVE WITNESS TO THE LOVE BINDING THE PEOPLE IN THEM AND THE FAMILY & FRIENDS SURROUNDING THEM, AND, SOMETIMES LITERALLY, HOLDING THEM UP IN CELEBRATION.
The story of your love, the worlds you came from and the life you are creating together, are one-of-a-kind and the images of your celebration of this life needs to show that.

The Heart Behind the Photos
IT STARTED WITH A STORY
The first time I had the chance to capture a wedding day, May 31st, 2008, I was overcome with excitement. It combined every kind of photography I loved–portrait, documentary, architecture–and all the details.
I loved knowing how much the bride and groom and their families and friends who had traveled so far would appreciate every moment of that day that was so unlike any they’d seen before or would ever see again.
From that day on, I set out to bring the same wide-eyed enthusiasm and the desire to exceed expectations every single time I’m honored with the opportunity to do so.
